Alcone Home Cinema Reference System

Alcone Referenz On May 27th, 2003 Dr Joseph D'Appolito explained how to develop a reference system with the help of Alcone drivers. This system was reviewed in the June 2003 issue of Klang+Ton and has in the meantime become available to the public.

The system consists of:
- Main speakers
- Centre speaker
- Rear speakers
- Subwoofer as an option

Sound description in Klang+Ton 6/2003: ..."Mr D'Appolito has done a tremendous job in designing and creating a system for a home cinema environment that does more than justice to surround sound movies. An exciting yet balanced sound fills the room, a result of the well matched characteristics of main and centre speakers. The demanding task of wandering, evenly sounding effects is solved in an exemplary manner, almost without noticing the existence of speakers. The already positive results while in stereo were confirmed in surround mode: the powerful bass - lacking sponginess altogether - lets the listener nearly forget that no subwoofer is employed. Obviously, two 25 cm drivers won't be able to replace a powerful active subwoofer. However, preference is given to a precise bass instead of entertaining the neighbourhood.

Verdict:

The question why a need arose to develop a reference surround set Joe D'Appolito answered that he likes home cinema since the viewer becomes part and parcel of the happening and gets carried away. That's exactly what this system achieves. Developed by the Master himself, this involving reference kit is highly recommended for movie enthusiasts who enjoy a reference-worthy home cinema system."
The main speakers have been replaced by Pascal XT

Subwoofer
